1. Data controller

The controller responsible for personal data processed in connection with SkyPulse and this website is Orhan Schöwe, Nova Studio, at the contact details above.

2. This website

This website currently uses no advertising networks, analytics cookies, or externally embedded fonts. The hosting provider processes technically necessary connection data, such as IP address, access time, requested file, and browser information, to deliver the website securely.

For voluntary registration for the closed SkyPulse test, this website links to a Google Form. The form processes only the Google Play email address entered by the interested person, so that person can be added to the test group. The form is provided through Google Forms; Google’s Privacy Policy also applies. Nova Studio uses the address only for the test phase and deletes the related registration once the test has ended.

3. App principles

SkyPulse is ad-free. The app does not sell personal data or use advertising networks. Preferences such as language, favorites, display name, and consent choices are generally stored locally on your device.

4. Location and weather data

If you grant location access, SkyPulse processes your coordinates to provide local sky and weather information. You can revoke this permission at any time in Android settings. SkyPulse does not create a continuous movement history.

For weather and solar-time information, the required coordinates are sent to MET Norway. According to its own information, MET Norway processes data including IP address and coordinates to operate the service. Manual place search and conversion of GPS coordinates into a place name use the Android system geocoder; its provider depends on the device configuration.

For local ISS forecasts, SkyPulse downloads NASA's public ISS orbit file. The IP address is technically transmitted to NASA's file service, but your location coordinates are not. The file is cached locally for twelve hours, while direction, altitude, sunlight, and visible passes are calculated on the device.

5. Google sign-in and Firebase

Google sign-in is optional. If used, SkyPulse processes the sign-in information supplied by Google or Firebase Authentication, particularly the identifier required for authentication and, where available, name and email address. See Firebase privacy information and the Google Privacy Policy.

6. Crash reports

Firebase Crashlytics is disabled by default. Technical crash reports are enabled only when you deliberately activate the option under Privacy & diagnostics in the app, and consent can be withdrawn there at any time. SkyPulse does not use usage analytics.

7. Premium and payments

Premium subscriptions are intended to be offered through Google Play. Google Play processes payments. SkyPulse receives only the purchase and status information required to unlock, restore, and manage the subscription. Nova Studio does not store payment-card or bank details. The production subscription feature has not yet been released.

8. Storage duration

Locally stored settings remain on your device until you change them, clear the app data, or uninstall the app. Data handled by optional Google and Firebase services is governed by the relevant service terms, privacy information, and your selected settings.

9. Delete your SkyPulse account

If you used optional Google sign-in, you can permanently delete your SkyPulse account and associated cloud data in the app under Settings → Profile → Delete SkyPulse account. Local preferences remain until you clear the app data or uninstall the app.

You may also request deletion by emailing Orhan.schoewe@gmx.de and identifying the email address used for SkyPulse. The request is processed after the necessary identity check.

Deleting the SkyPulse account does not cancel an active Google Play subscription. A subscription must be canceled separately in Google Play subscription management.

10. Your rights

Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, and objection. Consent may be withdrawn at any time with future effect. You may also lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority. The authority responsible for the controller's location is the State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony.

11. Data sources

Weather: MET Norway Locationforecast and Sunrise APIs under NLOD 2.0 / CC BY 4.0. SkyPulse derives observing suitability from these data; this is not a guarantee of weather, seeing, or object visibility.

ISS orbit: NASA/JSC Flight Operations Directorate, Trajectory Operations and Planning Officer (TOPO). SkyPulse derives local visibility windows from public CCSDS OEM data; maneuvers, obstacles, weather, and forecast uncertainty can affect real observations.
